Silence takes me to a place
There darkness comes apart at the seam
And I dream.
I see a mirror, cracked
A reflection
With skin of blackest night
Hair, ebony and round
Like a thorny shrub of the savannah.
Lips, full and brown
Like the lush of the rainforest
With bosom bobbing
Like the swollen tide of a majestic river.
Teeth, perfect and white
Like chalk amid charcoal
But this is not me!
And it dawns on me
It is you I see
And I like it.
